CCMW’s Statement on the Issue of Sexual Harassment

On Saturday, October 21,2017, CCMW held a celebration of the 35th anniversary of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms and of CCMW.

A panel of women leaders were asked to consider the question of how far have women come in 2017. The issue of sexual harassment of women and girls was raised. The discussion was difficult and aroused strong emotions for those in attendance.

CCMW deeply regrets that comments made during the open discussion were disrespectful and hurtful.  CCMW clearly advocates for, and supports victims of sexual abuse and violence. We are committed to stand with survivors, regardless of where the abuse occurred.
