The Canadian Council of Muslim Women (CCMW) is seeking an experienced educator to develop, deliver and coordinate its education programs. Candidates will be expected to work from an analytic framework encompassing principles of gender equality, intersectionality, human rights and countering racism, including anti-Black and anti-Indigenous racism, Islamophobia and hate.

Purpose: CCMW develops and delivers workshops and education programs on a host of topics, including gender-based violence, family law, anti-racism, anti-oppression, anti-Islamophobia, discrimination and harassment, accommodation, among others. Demand for the workshops is increasing and CCMW is seeking an experienced educator to develop, deliver and coordinate its education programs.

Position Type: Full-time Contract Position for one year in GTA, Ontario. Start date:  July 17,  2023.

Responsibilities: Reporting to the Executive Director, the Education Coordinator will:

  • Collaborate with subject matter experts, CCMW team members, and chapters to design, develop and deliver effective and comprehensive content for interactive & engaging  in-person/online workshops and education programs.

  • Engage in a workshop/curriculum design process informed by principles of human-centred design and adult learner-centred pedagogical strategies to promote experiential learning.

  • Promote and coordinate education programs through community outreach and partnerships.

  • Support CCMW Chapters with tools and resources to deliver community trainings (train the trainer model).

  • Work with staff team and evaluator to develop & implement evaluation tools for workshops and other learning events (surveys; questionnaires).

  • Provide regular progress reports and education related information and reports & data to Executive Director and the Board (as required).

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary qualification in areas of social justice, women’s studies, education, sociology, etc. with additional professional learning in anti-racism, equity, inclusion & human rights.

  • Minimum two years experience in design, development & delivery of anti-racism, human rights, and social justice education, demonstrating success with community growth & engagement.

  • Experience in educational programming & proven ability in instructional design and development of in-person and online learning programs.

  • Working knowledge of design and content development on E-module platforms like Moodle, Linkr etc

  • Adept and savvy with social media tools and platforms (LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, TikTok), trends, applications and emerging opportunities.

  • Working knowledge of online/e-learning module platform/s is preferred.

  • Effective oral and written communication skills in English. 

  • Oral and written communication skills French in French would be an asset.

  • Exceptional problem solving, presentation and interpersonal skills.

  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to develop and follow a work plan; ability to pay attention to detail & work independently as well as in teams.

  • Ability to work in a variety of settings with culturally diverse communities.

Working Conditions: Required to work from home office with access to a laptop & mobile phone. Some evening and weekend work required. Occasional travel may be required. Required to work 40 hours a week.

Salary: $55,000 – $60,000/year, commensurate with experience.
