Fundraiser by CCMW Durham Region
CCMW Durham raised $500 through this Fundraiser. Thank you to everyone who donated!
Every day, we hear of more bodies of Indigenous children being found at Residental schools. Our hearts are heavy because the residential school system is not just a 'chapter' in our country’s history but a foundational part of colonial violence against Indigenous Peoples that continues to this day.
Canadian Council of Muslim Women (CCMW) stands in solidarity with First Nations, Métis, and Inuit Peoples. We reaffirm our commitment to reconciliation and to fighting for truth and justice for them.
We would like to help bridge the gap between the Indigenous people and the rest of Canadians by supporting HIP (Honouring Indigenous Peoples) in their work with Indigenous young people. It is a unique Youth-to-Youth (Y2Y) learning experience for Indigenous and Non-Indigenous students in grades 9 to 11.
From camping and canoeing adventures to robotics competitions and other dynamic activities, these engagements broaden youth’s horizons and galvanize a foundation for lifelong friendships. Through education, interaction, and practice, the Y2Y program provides a deeper understanding of reconciliation for students and nurtures strong, high-energy leaders to drive change in their communities and beyond. Please consider supporting this worthy cause.
