Nature Walk
CCMW Durham region took a 90-minute nature walk with Sumaira Munir. She is a certified volunteer hike leader, environmental educator, and park host for more than three years with Parks Canada. She was appointed by the Minister of Environment and Climate Change to his Multi-stakeholder and Public Advisory Committee for Rouge National Urban Park.
On our walk, Sumaira taught us about natural spaces, animal habitats, and invasive plants. We learned to appreciate pollination done by bees and gained a better understanding of how Ontario parks are managed. While we laughed and chatted through our walk, we savored the vibrant fall colour. We are looking forward to another opportunity to connect with other members and get some much-needed exercise on our next adventure with Sumaira.
