Stragetic planning meeting and 40th Anniversary Gala

Arshia Ali, Maryum Ahmed, and Kubra Mir attended the Strategic planning meeting with other chapters across Canada at Novotel Hotel in North and worked on planning the future of CCMW. It was a good opportunity to meet other members and learn from their experiences about how we can improve.

Member Sumaira Munir joined us in celebrating CCMW's 40th Anniversary Gala dinner hosted by MC Zahra Grant and we heard many wonderful performances by poets and musicians. We had the opportunity to hear the two keynote speakers: Alia Hogben who is the former Executive Director of CCMW and the second Muslim woman to receive the Order of Canada. Talat Muinuddin was the first founding President of CCMW Toronto's chapter and the second President of CCMW's National Board of Directors.

President Kubra accepted a plaque of appreciation on behalf of Durham Region for its dynamic members and work within the local community. It is an honour to be recognized in an organization that has the most talented and extraordinary women across Canada.
