Kubra Mir
Kubra Mir grew up watching her parents volunteer in the local community and was raised with strong values of faith, culture. and helping others. She was recently awarded the Platinum Jubilee Pin Award by Honorable Mark Holland, Ajax MP, and was given the "Good Deed" award in 2017 by the Town of Ajax for her volunteer work.
Kubra is President of Durham Region's chapter of the Canadian Council of Muslim Women and has presented workshops to educate people about Islamophobia and family law. She empowers women through leadership opportunities and collects donations for local women’s shelters. As a Director on the Islamic History Month Board, she works with municipalities to proclaim October as Islamic History Month and creates social media posts to celebrate the rich Muslim heritage and contributions to society.
Kubra has organized youth mentorship events and provides opportunities for young people to volunteer. She is passionate about the environment and encourages people to plant trees and clean up parks. She has volunteered at the Islamic Foundation mosque's soup kitchen and is one of the founders of a senior group at a local mosque. She is an advocate for blood donation and organizes blood drives for the Muslim community.
Kubra is a food and lifestyle blogger and has her own recipe column in a local magazine. In her free time, you can catch her cooking up a new recipe or spending time with her husband and two kids.
