Asma Noomani: 2022

My name is Asma Noomani and I am a mother of 3 girls for whom I work hard to pass on our Muslim values. I am also a postgraduate student in Elementary Education at Campus Saint-Jean of the University of Alberta. Being a teacher has been my dream since I was a little girl, but unfortunately I was not able to accomplish it in my home country. I came to Canada in September 2018 with the hope of becoming a teacher, but sadly Quebec's Bill 21 prohibited me from achieving my dream.

So, we moved a year ago to Edmonton, in Alberta so I could finally fulfill this big dream. Thanks to the support of my husband, I was able to not only restart my studies at the age of 40, but also to be among the best in terms of academic results. I am proud today to set a good example for my daughters so that they will never doubt that it is never too late to achieve their dreams and that Muslim women are capable of great success.
