Youth group sets up Ramadan Library Showcase

The Youth Group is a branch of the CCMW Durham Chapter and was established in the summer of 2022 with the goal of enhancing Muslim youth’s sense of belonging. The youth group is supporting the Audley library branch in Ajax to proudly showcase and educate the Durham community about Ramadhan. Thank you to Amgad, Ahmed, Ayesha, Misha, and youth lead Nashreen for setting up the beautiful display.

Ramadhan is the 9th month of the Islamic calendar. During this month Muslims fast from dusk to dawn every day. This is a time of increased spiritual reflection, devotion, and charity. Muslims end the month with a three-day celebration called ‘Eid-ul-Fitr’. The celebrations begin at the sighting of the crescent moon marking the end of Ramadhan. Eid celebrations include gatherings with family and friends including festive meals, prayers, and the exchange of gifts.
