Workplace Interventions on Sexual Harassment (WISH)

A national initiative by CCMW to empower Muslim women and help employers create safer, more inclusive workplaces.

Help Us Understand How to Address Workplace Harassment

We’re inviting small to medium-sized employers (1–500 employees) to complete a short survey to help us better understand existing supports, challenges, and opportunities for improving workplace practices. This survey is designed for individuals with supervisory, managerial, HR, or employment-related responsibilities and focuses on organizational policies, training, and support systems - not personal experiences of workplace harassment. Your insights will directly contribute to building stronger, safer, and more supportive workplaces.

Why WISH?

The Canadian Council of Muslim Women (CCMW)’s WISH Project addresses workplace sexual harassment, particularly impacting newcomer and racialized Muslim women. This national initiative, supported by Justice Canada, aims to build awareness of legal rights, provide culturally relevant resources, and equip employers with the tools to foster safer, more inclusive workplaces.

WISH seeks to address the gendered issue of workplace sexual harassment — a reality that disproportionately affects newcomer and immigrant racialized women in Canada.

Research shows that many Canadian Muslim women are unaware of their legal rights and the resources available to them. At the same time, many small and medium-sized employers lack the knowledge and tools needed to address and prevent harassment in the workplace.

Grounded in findings from our national study, Still Overqualified and Underemployed? Canadian Muslim Women’s Experiences on Barriers & Facilitators, the project responds to alarming trends including:

  • Discrimination and ineffective reporting structures

  • A lack of independent reporting mechanisms

  • Limited employer capacity to support affected employees

Through WISH, CCMW will:

  • Increase legal awareness around sexual harassment in the workplace

  • Develop culturally relevant tools and resources

  • Equip Muslim women and employers with practical tools to create safer, more supportive work environments
