Talat Muinuddin, Founding Member

 
 

Talat Muinuddin arrived in Edmonton, Canada from Pakistan in 1962 to pursue higher education. While in Edmonton, she got involved with interfaith organizations like the Pakistan Students’ Association, mosques, churches, interfaith organizations and intercultural networks in the city. Her passion for improving the lives of women from her community brought her closer to the Canadian Council of Muslim Women. After relocating to Toronto in 1967,Talat joined CCMW National as a joint secretary & editor. She worked on developing CCMW’s monthly newsletter and went on to become the first founding president of CCMW (Toronto chapter) and second president (CCMW National). She, along with Dr. Lila Fahlman, represented CCMW at the Women's World Conference held in Beijing.
