Meeting with Whitby and Ajax

Durham Region's Farzana, Natalia, and Kubra did an hour presentation about Islamophobia and we will be hosting a second workshop about Cyberbullying in April. We would like to acknowledge the work of Dare Project Manager and Jasmine for her technical support of our workshop.

We would like to thank the towns of Ajax and Whitby for allowing the Durham region chapter to celebrate International Women's day with an online meeting. We appreciate the time of efforts of Natasha Sharma, Diversity & Inclusion Coordinator and Kim Evans, Staff Designate for the Whitby Diversity and Inclusion Advisory Committee (DIAC) or making the presentation possible.

We were honoured to have the Mayor of Ajax, Sean Collier, and Deputy Mayor of Whitby, Elizabeth Roy speak at our meeting. Special thanks to Regional Councillor Sterling Lee (Ajax), Councillor Lisa Bower(Ajax), Regional Councillor. Marilyn Crawford (Ajax), Councillor Ashmead Khan (Ajax), Councillor Deidre Newman (Whitby), Councillor Maleeha Shaheed (Whitby), Councillor Steve Yamada (Whitby, Councillor Shaheen Butt (Pickering) for attending our workshop and encouraging the Durham Region to be a more welcoming space for the growing diverse population.
